A house puts a roof
over someone's head.
Education changes
the course of a family's life.
Accountability
makes the difference.
At
AchieveAbility, we value education as the key to self-sufficiency. Since 1981,
AchieveAbility has been working to end poverty by helping single-parent,
low-income families so they have what they need to pursue higher education and
achieve self-sufficiency.
AchieveAbility provides housing
and supportive services and
works to build stronger communities.
AchieveAbility has an
award-winning track record of success. Most
recently, The Philadelphia Foundation honored AchieveAbility with the first
Good Governance Award in November 2006.
People can
do amazing things
when they
have the support they need.

Brenda, at 54, says
she now is the parent she always wanted to be because of budgeting classes.
Now she knows she can say "no" to her daughters. One of her daughters
graduated from college and is self-sufficient and the other is in college on
the Dean's List. Brenda received an associate's degree and is starting her bachelor's degree
soon.

Karen and her daughters went to a shelter when a violent, abusive
relationship ended when a gun was held to Karen’s head. AchieveAbility was
like starting over for Karen: a place where she could “be someone and have a
voice and where anything was possible.” She knows people can do amazing things
when they have the support they need. Karen is pursuing a career in nursing. |
