ACHIEVEability, through its Community Development department, teams up with the Haddington-Cobbs Creek CDC, in providing neighborhood residents with resources and information to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood and in serving as a conduit for citizen participation in the activities of the Office of Housing and Community Development of the City of Philadelphia. Residents come to the Community Office for help with:
▲ Advocacy work. We reach out to city, state, federal government agencies, other non-profits and anyone else we need to in order to provide you the assistance and support you need.
▲ Assistance with filing taxes and rent rebates.
▲ Help for those applying for financial aid, scholarships, and college applications, TANF, food stamps, LiHeap, Medicare, Medicaid, rental assistance, utility assistance, and much more.
▲ Activities to support families, individuals and blocks such as offering free coats, clothes, toys and recycling bins, youth enrichment programs, block clean ups, trips, etc.
▲ Referrals to homeownership programs, food banks, foreclosure assistance, weatherization programs, 311 liaison, etc.
▲ Citizen participation through the Community Advisory Committee. This committee functions as our eyes and ears in the community. They also ensure ACHIEVEability’s community –driven programs correspond with the needs and wants of the community.
▲ Organize various community meetings which shares information on various programs, services, and opportunities in our area.
▲ The Community Office conducts at least four service area briefings on various topics and publishes quarterly neighborhood newsletters.
Do you have an EVICTION NOTICE?
If you meet the below eligibility criteria, you could receive financial assistance to help with your rent and/or move-in costs.
You must
• Be experiencing a financial crisis and at risk of becoming homeless.
• Be a single parent or single (without dependents) with a household income at or below the 50% Area Medium Income.
And
o Provide proof of loss employment or reduction of work hours within 24 months.
Or
o Complete at least 9 semester credit hours of college education or equivalent training/GED hours within 24 months.
