Volunteering
Make Time. Make a difference.
There are number of ways to get involved as an AchieveAbility volunteer. To start, check out some of the opportunities below!
Operation Welcome Home:
Help a new family feel more at home by donating new and gently used household items through Operation Welcome Home. Volunteers Kristy Clewett and Donna Witonsky are organizing this new effort to provide the basics for recently homeless families that are moving into AchieveAbility.

Many of the families coming to AchieveAbility have very little to furnish their new homes.

Here is a list of common household items our families need

- twin and queen bed frames,

- mattresses,

- comforters,

- sheets,

- towels,

- shower curtains,

- dishes,

- and pots and pans.

- Gift cards and non-perishable food items are also a big help.

Contact Kirsty at kristyclewett@yahoo.com or 610-296-0236.

Gift Closet:   We need your help! Our gift closet stores in-kind donations from Bed, Bath and Beyond and other generous donors. These items need to be sorted and organized so families can find what they need.

People who work on this project will help families pick out items for their homes and choose presents for their children.

If you have a couple of hours, we can use your help. This is an ongoing project that does not require a time commitment. All we ask is that you come in during normal working hours during the week.

Summer Environmental Education Camp Work with 10-15 kids on environmental education, gardening, clean-up projects, arts & crafts, and various other activities.
Family to Family: Spend time at the aquarium or the ball game with our families. Family:Family outings are a chance for volunteer and AchieveAbility families to meet, relax, and learn from each other.
Home Improvement: Help clean and paint AchieveAbility houses to prepre them for new residents. House projects are available during the week and on the first Saturday of every month. This project is great for a team of volunteers.
Fundraising Events: Organize fundraising events with AchieveAbility staff and board members. Spring Gala is May 12th!
People Going Places: Participate in a leadership dinner with AchieveAbility parents and share your career and academic insights. We are looking for volunteers to sponsor dinners as well as contribute to the discussion.
Tutoring adults and children is a big part of the volunteer experience -- and what families need most -- at AchieveAbility.

Since education is the key to self-sufficiency, we need tutors to help with math, reading, science and other classes.

Note: Tutors and other volunteers who work directly with AchieveAbility families will be asked to complete a background check and child abuse clearance.
